The Context.
For nearly 6 years, I have diligently written fleeting thoughts, notes, and essays in markdown files that I'd view through Obsidian. Indeed, this very Field Note is but one example. The inspiration for this so-called "second brain" is located in Niklas Luhmann's Zettelkasten.
Prior to the "age of AI," I had rebuilt a handful of times the file and folder structure that organized my second brain. Now firmly in the "age of AI," I found myself compelled to burn and respawn the second brain in quicker cycles. It as if I could not keep up with my own note-taking. Especially once my AI agents were bridged from my desktop computer to my pocket computer (phone), the volume of textual production far exceeded my human brain's capacity to recall and convert the accumulation of knowledge into applied wisdom.
And so, fighting the overwhelm of choice, I decided to "control all - delete" and incubate my digital brain with agentic blood and fresh structure that could accommodate my interdisciplinary interests in attempt to create the heretofore just out-of-reach "single source of truth" that leverages AI, yet crucially preserves the "me"... the subjective "I" that remains even if AI can outproduce me (and it can).
The axis continues to shift from production function to wisdom integration. And for me, it starts with something as mundane as files and folders.

My Insight > AI Summary
- Even if the AI Summary is objectively better than what I could produce, what's missing from that standard "human vs. machine" comparison is the Subject. I am the subject. It is the "I am" that digests and expresses the insight.
- As long as I am the carrier of the message (even if, or especially if, that message is meant for me), it is subjective experience with regard to the insight that matters (even if that insight is "off").
Keep AI Outside of My Personal Vault
- Move AI creation / production into a different surface area entirely to avoid context slippage and to keep my own signal clean and "my own".
